Open with Process Contextual Menu Manager (CMM) Plugin© 1997 All Rights Reserved v1.0 11-Sept-97 george (ty) tempel, ttempel@monmouth.com |
|
Description |
The Open with Process plugin allows you to select
files and send an OpenDocument ('odoc') event to any
of the currently running processes. This is a handy shortcut for
opening files in applications other than those that created them. For instance, say you have some GIF, JPEG, or even some source code files lying around, and you want to open them in an application that you already have up and running. Instead of switching to that application, and selecting "Open" from the File menu for each file, just select all of the files in the Finder, hold down the control key, and pick the application you want to send the files to. |

Shareware Fee |
This software is shareware. If you decide to keep it,
please send US$1.00 to the address found
at the bottom of this document.
If you have already registered a copy of this software, then you are
entitled to future upgrades as well. At just US$1.00 you really can't
go wrong, and it will help to put gas in my motorcycle. This software may be included in any free-access online archive. The software may be included in any CD-ROM or similar volume only with the written (letter, fax, or email) consent of the author and provided that the author receives one free copy of the volume. |
Requirements |
The following are required in order to use this software:
|
Installation |
Drag the plugin onto your closed System folder,
and let the Mac OS put it into the Contextual Menu Items folder, which will
(probably) be created automagically for you by the Finder. Reboot. If you have
problems, then perhaps your system didn't place the plugin into the Contextual
Menu Items folder, so make certain that you have the folder (you can always
create it manually if the need arises), and put the plugin into the folder. |
Disclaimer |
It works here at home on my PowerMac 7500/100 (604/150), as
well as on my PowerMac 8100/80 at work. However, if your Mac OS system should
suddenly go up in a cloud of smoke, start spinning its monitor around and
speaking in tongues, or do other nasty thing such as eating files or snacking
on disks, it's not my fault. I don't guarantee that Open with Process can or will do
anything except take up a tiny bit of room on your hard drive. Doesn't it suck that we need to put disclaimers on stuff like this? |
Credits |
I'd like to thank Apple for the CMM mechanism and SDK, as well as Apple's DTS group for their kind help. I'd also like to thank those individuals who have paid their shareware fees, making this seem worthwhile. This software was developed using Metrowerks' CodeWarrior Pro, and Resorcerer on a PowerMac 7500/150 (604 upgrade). Long live the Mac! |
